On Sunday, February 18th, from 11:00-2:00 pm, the German-American Social Club of Nevada (GASCON) will be holding a fundraiser in support of children's cancer research. St Baldrick's Foundation (SBF) has existed for many years as a fundraising conduit for research donations. Nationwide, and in Las Vegas, there are many organizations that hold significant events to raise funds towards the Foundation's efforts. GASCON has participated in the SBF events of the Sons and Daughters of Erin (The Irish-American Club) for many years.
Traditionally, funds to SBF are raised by individual's volunteering to receive a "balding haircut", in support of persons undergoing treatment for cancer. We certainly encourage GASCON Members, and the Public, to "TAKE THE SHAVE", while at the same time, asking their friends, family and employers to donate for their noble sacrifice in the Chair. However, there are other ways that members can contribute to Tim's SBF Fundraiser. 1. Come to the Club, and Support one of the Shavees. 2. Come to the Club, and Make a Donation for NOT GETTING SHAVED. 3. Come to the Club, and Offer a Gift in the name of Friends or Family. 4. Come to the Club, and Throw Cash to Celebrate that you have Hair! 5. Come to the Club, and Bring Your Best Taunts and Goodwill. 6. Offer your service during the event to greet guests, and cajole donations. But elementally, come and support those that are committed to this good work !! VALENTINE'S DINNER & SHOW

The German-American Club, in solidarity with many groups nationwide, and with the Sons and Daughters of Erin in Las Vegas, will be conducting a fundraiser on Sunday, February 18th. The Club will organize a "Shaved Head" haircut service, and request that guests raise "Team Contributions" towards a single gift for the haircut of each person. The event will be at held at the Clubhouse, 1110 E Lake Mead Blvd, North Las Vegas. More details will follow in our newsletters and on this website. We hope for your support, and we encourage other organizations to develop fundraisers with the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Our Saturday evening Social Dinners, and the live entertainment which follows the meal, are the heart of our association. For decades, our members have assembled and shared music and dance each week. Over 53 years, the price of our meals, and our dues for annual membership, have increased to reflect the rising cost of our corporate operations, and the cost of food supplies. As discussed in our December and January Newsletter, the membership discussed the need to adjust prices at the November membership meeting. Ultimately, meal costs were increased for the 2024 year, and meals are divided into 3 types. Here are the prices that will be charged to members: Regular Saturday Meals - $20 each for appetizer, dinner plate, and dessert. Premium Saturday Meals - $25/person appetizer, premium/specialty food plate, and dessert Special Event Meals - $30-45, for unique, complex or festive dinner/party events. Coffee/Tea service will continue as a free service to members. Other drinks are available for purchase at the Bar. All Meal prices are shown in the Newsletter and are listed on the "Saturday Dinners" tab of this website. The German-American Social Club of Nevada is organized as a private membership association. However, people from the community are always welcome to join in our many activities. We encourage people to stop and chat, learn about our history, our organization, and our various cultural activity groups. It is part of our mission to share our goals and to educate those that want to be a part of this unique, extended family. German family lineage is not required. However, as part of our state and local licensing, non-members are considered visitors and they are required to sign our "Guest Register" when entering. The Register is usually just inside our front-door. To foster visitors, certain hours each week are scheduled specifically to receive the public, and members are always present to answer questions and provide facility tours. Often you will see an "Open House" banner during such hours and the banner will encourage stop-in guests. Additionally, certain annual cultural and food events we hold are open to the public, like "Oktoberfest" and "Maifest". These large events, which often include the sale of traditional meals, are held after an approved temporary food sales permit is issued by the Southern Nevada Public Health Department. These multi-day fairs/activities are open to the public, and signing the Guest Register is not required. Currently, we have about 235 members and the number is consistently growing. Membership dues expire annually on June 30th for all members. Association renewal dues are $35 and about 85-90% of our members elect to renew their service each year. After a few visits, if you find that you enjoy our cultural preservation and social sharing activities, we encourage you to request an application form and become a member of our Association. Christmas is a festive time around the World. The German-American Social Club of Nevada will share in that celebration with our annual Weihnachtsfeier (Christmas Party) on Sunday, December 9th. Our 2023 Club party will be staged in our Hall, with a grand full course dinner starting our evening. This dinner will be followed by Billy Fischer singing songs for the Season, and music to dance by. Semi-formal dress is encouraged. See the "Weekly Saturday Dinners" tab under the "Calendar Events Page" on this website for information about seasonal parties and other other holiday meals. Guests are Welcome at our Membership Club in North Las Vegas. Please leave a message with your questions at 702-201-1448 for further information. Our Sunday Morning Frühschoppen has been rescheduled for December 17th from 12:00-3:00.
