Bavarian Night
On Saturday, November 19, 2016 we will be holding our annual "Bavarian Night" in Honor of Elsie Lappoehn (1919-2013), Founder of the German-American Club of Nevada. We are planning a fun evening for you ! The Ginger Snaps are providing the music and the Lustigen Schuhplattler, under the direction of Art Ruckle and Reiner Knopp, will make the evening very enjoyable with their beautiful folk dancing ! Silvia and her Haxenmeister Skip and Crew will be the Chefs. You have a choice of Schweinehaxe (pork shank) for $ 17.00 or Beef Rouladen (Top Sirloin stuffed with onion, bacon, and pickle in a brown gravy) for $ 15.00. Since this event sells out quickly, please make your reservations ASAP by leaving your name and number on the club phone. Specify how many in your party and which dinner you prefer. They will begin practice again in preparation for Oktoberfest! Click Here To See the Page The Las vegas Bavarian Dance Group is actually two groups in one: The Folk Dancers and the Schuhplattles; proper name of Die Lustigen Bayerischen Schuhplattler (The Funny Bavarian Shoe Slappers). Even though they really only have 2 seasons,,, they are very busy with dancing all over the city and across the country.
The Las Vegas Bavarians and Die Lustigen Bayerischen Schuhplattlers regularly perform at: Bockbierfest at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA Henderson Heritage Days Bavarian Evening at the German American Social Club of Nevada El Jen Healthcare Center and Rehabilitation Maifest at the German American Social Club of Nevada Oktoberfest here in Las Vegas They recently also performed at UNLV's Festival of Communities and at Silverado High School. If you're interested in joining the Dance Group, please send an email [email protected] or just come to the club Thursday nights for practice. If you participate on a regular basis in dance practice and performances, a dancing outfit will be issued. There are no dues to be a member except for a commitment to participation.
